Sep – Nov 2010:
Dang. I have to say that the red door looks fantastic against the blocky white PVC trim and the HardiePlank color we chose for the rear of the house. (It’s Monterrey Taupe, in case you’re wondering.) The door still needs another coat, but it won’t need the 5 coats that the front door required. I got one coat done during the super mild weather on Saturday.
If I could have any style of house in the world, I’d want a Mission or Arts and Crafts 1920’s bungalow (that you can find all over intown Atlanta) with this color exterior, big chunky white trim, a deep room-like front porch and a red front door. But the next best thing is a rowhouse in the city we love that looks like that bungalow. From one side, at least. 🙂
We realized while walking to the Metro on Saturday night that we can see the back of the house from a block away on Taylor west of 4th Street. It’s visible right down the alley, and that red door pops even from there. Looks just like the house I’d wished for from a block away.
